WEAR RESISTANT CHROMIUM CARBIDE OVERLAY PLATE

ABRACLAD 60 is a versatile wear-resistant plate, which consists of a base plate of construction steel S235JR according to EN 10025-2 with a weld-on overlay containing very hard, wear-resistant chrome carbides.

The main alloying elements in the chemical composition of the overlay are carbon (C) and chromium (Cr). The connection between these two elements is created during the cooling of the weld pool and produces chromium carbides. Other elements in the weld-on layer besides iron (Fe) include silicon (Si), manganese (Mn) and niobium (Nb), which form a tough matrix for the chromium carbides.

The ABRACLAD chrome carbide overlay plate series starts with ABRACLAD 60, with a hardness of at least 60 HRC (Rockwell C) and continues up to ABRACLAD 65, with at least 65 HRC.

ABRACLAD 60 SB is a plate with a stringer bead weld-on overlay. Due to the relatively thinner weld bead and a well-oriented structure, these plates are extremely suitable for cold forming into tubes, cones, paddles and other workpieces with a critical or complex shape. ABRACLAD 60 SB is available in thicknesses 5.0 mm (3.0 + 2.0), 6.0 mm (3.0 + 3.0) and 8.0 mm (5.0 + 3.0).

ABRACLAD 60 provides perfect resistance to wear in combination with medium to high shock loads and can provide a 3-5 times longer life compared to an AR 400 wear resistant plate.

For other types of wear, whether or not in combination with erosion, corrosion or high temperatures, the application of ABRACLAD 62-65 can be the optimal wear-limiting solution. Feel free to submit your situation to us, so that we can give you appropriate advice and make a proposal.

We supply these overlay types on request from new production with, normally, a delivery time of 3 - 4 weeks.

Processing

ABRACLAD 60 can be cut with plasma or waterjet. Laser cutting is not possible. Feel free to inquire about our options, such as cutting to size or shape, holes, countersink holes, threaded holes, welded studs, etc.
